Bathtime for the Dogs in San Marcos

A few slow August days down in San Marcos, in north San Diego County, and the main event today was bathtime for the dogs. The tub here is a big oval soaking thing set into a tile deck, deep enough that the little tan one disappeared entirely once she jumped in — just her head over the rim, ears down, resigned to whatever came next.

She sat through the whole business without complaint, which is more than can usually be said. The papillon mix went in after, and by the end they were both parked side by side on the wet tub floor, still in their collars, waiting to be told it was over.

Damp dog smell in the bathroom for the rest of the evening. Worth it.
