November Night Game at Candlestick Park
Drove out to Candlestick for a November night game — 49ers hosting the Bears. Our seats were down low behind the end zone, close enough to see the goal posts and the painted 49ERS in the end zone right in front of us.
The crowd was a real mix: red and gold everywhere, but plenty of navy Bears jerseys scattered through our section too, so every big play got a reaction from somebody. At one point the whole section around us was on its feet with arms up, which is about the best kind of noise a stadium makes. Cold out there by the bay at night, most people in hoods and knit caps.
After the final whistle both teams spilled onto the field to shake hands while the stands started emptying. The walk back out took a while — the parking lots at Candlestick go on forever, and from the middle of them the whole stadium sits lit up behind you like it's still going. Took a bit of wandering between rows of cars to find ours again.
