Snowed In for the Weekend at Home

No outing this time — snowed in for the weekend, right here in Truckee. The storm has been dumping since it started and hasn't let up, and the snow is now past the glass on the back door. Opened the front to check and hit a wall of it, drifted higher than the doorway, so that settles any question of leaving.

The deck chairs are just black outlines under a couple of feet of powder, and the bedroom window is buried more than halfway up, icicles hanging off the eave above what's left of the view. The pines out back are so loaded the lower branches are touching the drifts.

So: fire in the stove all day, dutch oven going on top of it. Not a bad way to be stuck. At some point the shoveling has to start, but not today.
