An October Saturday at the Pumpkin Patch

We spent a Saturday afternoon at a pumpkin patch somewhere in the Bay Area back in late October of 2009. It was a bright and sunny day, almost too warm for fall, as we found a spot on some hay bales to take a quick family photo.

The place had all the standard fall festival attractions, including those classic painted plywood cutouts for photo ops. Our daughter was particularly taken with the black cat, posing in it multiple times. We all eventually got in on the action, posing as a scarecrow and a little farmer baby.

The patch itself was sprawling, with hundreds of pumpkins laid out in the sun against the dry, grassy hills. It was pretty crowded, with plenty of other families on the same mission. We grabbed a little cart and set off to find our pumpkins for the year. Our daughter was very serious about her selection and insisted on pushing the cart herself once we had loaded it up.
