Dogs, Sun, and a Few Days Home in San Diego
A few days home in San Diego, and the weather held for all of them.
One day was downtown — past Petco Park, then up to a rooftop with the Coronado Bridge stretched out across the bay. A trail somewhere along the way was crowded with prickly pear, some of the pads flowering yellow.
Mostly, though, it was dogs. The pup spent a whole afternoon on the patio cushions with her eyes half shut, front legs stretched out in the sun, moving only when the shade did. Then a beach day, where she ran full speed through the shallows and came out of the surf soaked and looking mildly betrayed by it. Her little black-and-white friend fared about the same. Both of them picked their way back up the rocks dripping, tongues out, ready to go again.
