Old Fortress Walls and a Modern City Skyline

I spent an afternoon in late July walking through these expansive historical grounds. The weather was warm, with a mix of heavy clouds and bright patches of blue sky. Passing through the main gate, flanked by tall pine trees, felt like stepping into a much quieter space, separate from the surrounding city.

The scale of the old fortress walls was the first thing that struck me. The massive, precisely-cut stones form imposing barriers, and it's quiet enough to just stand and look at them. I also came across a unique modern building with large mosaic panels, a surprising contrast to the ancient stone everywhere else.

Following the paths, I eventually came to the wide moat that surrounds the grounds. The water was calm and green, and the stone walls leading down to it were covered in lush vegetation. The trees here are clearly very old, with dark, gnarled branches making intricate patterns against the sky.

The most memorable view was looking back across the moat. A traditional guardhouse sits on its stone foundation, perfectly preserved, while directly behind it the glass and steel towers of the modern city rise into the clouds. It's a stark and fascinating visual contrast.
