Peonies and Freesias for a Sunday in May
It was a quiet day at home, so I picked up some flowers. Peony season is always a favorite, and these were too good to pass up. The combination of the big, soft peonies and the smaller, more delicate freesias felt just right for a late spring afternoon.
The peonies are a mix of different pinks, from a pale, almost peachy color to a much brighter, more saturated magenta. You can see all the layers of petals packed in. I especially like them paired with the bright yellow freesias, which add a really nice pop of contrasting color.
I put them in a vase by the window and spent some time just taking a few photos as the light changed. It's a simple thing, but having fresh flowers around really brightens up the space. A good way to mark a simple Sunday in May.
