The Christmas Season in San Francisco
Took the kids into San Francisco for some Christmas season doing-the-rounds. Somewhere in the middle of a line, waiting on whatever we were waiting on, our girl and her friend got to hugging and wouldn't let go of it — cheek to cheek, both of them grinning like it was the whole point of the trip. Maybe it was.
Back home in the evening the tree got its due. Both kids in the red gingham pajamas, the fire going, the little wooden train parked on the tree skirt. The oldest wanted her own turn in front of the tree and gave us a few poses, then a spin, hair everywhere.
The peg-doll nativity is out on the chair under the big-bulb lights — angel, wise men, two round sheep. One king still standing outside the stable, not quite arrived yet.
