A Brief Trip to Bend, Oregon in August 2020

We made a short trip to Bend for a couple of days in early August 2020. Our first night, we walked around after dark. The old Des Chutes Historical Museum was all lit up, and down by the river, the last light in the sky and the lamps along the bank reflected on the water.

The next day was clear and sunny. We spent some time downtown, finding a spot with an outdoor table where we could have some drinks. It was nice to just sit with the family and the dog on the sidewalk in the warm weather.

While we were there, we had to make a stop at the Blockbuster. It’s pretty surreal to see that sign still standing over a parking lot, looking exactly as it did years ago. A true time capsule.

We finished the trip with a walk around a lake. The water was perfectly still, reflecting the trees and houses on the opposite shore. It was a very calm, clear afternoon and a quiet way to end our quick visit.
