Few Days on the Water in Coeur d'Alene
A few days on the water in Coeur d'Alene, a long way from San Marcos. First evening we mostly just watched the lake from up high — the sun went down behind the ridgeline while boats trailed back in past the floating boardwalk, and a seaplane sat tied up at one of the docks.
The boat day came up gray and cool, nothing like August is supposed to feel. We loaded the kids and both dogs on anyway and headed out of the downtown launch. Tubing happened regardless of the temperature — one of us pulled while the other floated behind on the yellow tube, and whoever came back aboard went straight under the blue blanket. The dogs traded laps. The little beagle mix gave up on the wind and burrowed in next to the kid with the orange hair.
The lab spent most of the tow runs standing on the stern seat, watching the tube like it was her job.
