A Chicago Day Trip: On the Water and at the Game
Spent a day in Chicago on September 12, 2004. The weather was clear and warm for mid-September, perfect for getting out on Lake Michigan. We started the day on the water, cruising with a great view of the skyline. You could see the Hancock and other buildings clearly from way out on the lake.
There were plenty of other boats out, mostly sailboats enjoying the calm conditions. We came in through one of the channels, navigating past rows of docked boats in the marina. The city felt a lot closer from there, with the high-rises right behind the trees along the shore.
Later in the day, we went ashore to catch a Bears game at Soldier Field. The stadium was packed, and the sun was bright on the field. It was a classic fall football afternoon, a completely different scene from the quiet of the lake.
We ended the day back out on the water. Watching the sun go down over the lake was a great way to wrap things up. The sky turned a deep orange, and the reflection on the water was perfectly still.
