A Classic Fourth of July Parade in Truckee

We spent the Fourth of July in Truckee this year, taking in the annual parade. The crowd was already thick when we arrived, with people setting up camp chairs all along the street. The local fire station, Gateway Station 92, seemed to be the center of the action, with a pancake breakfast underway and fire trucks on display.

We found a good spot on the curb to watch the proceedings. It was a perfectly clear, sunny day, ideal for sitting outside. We got into the spirit with some festive, patriotic hats and just settled in to watch everyone go by. The whole street was lined with families and groups enjoying the holiday atmosphere.

The parade had a great local feel. The Town of Truckee police truck drove by with people waving from the back. A group of young cadets in military uniforms also marched past, carrying flags and a banner. It was a simple, pleasant way to celebrate the holiday, just being part of the community on a beautiful summer day.
