Sunny January Day Skiing Mammoth
Mammoth for a change instead of our own hills, which meant a longer drive and a much longer line — Broadway Express was backed up through the whole corral when we got there, everybody with the same idea on a bluebird day. January is supposed to be one of the snowiest months here, 43 inches on average, but there wasn't a cloud all day and the runs were skiing hard and fast off the groomers.
We rode mostly in pairs, kids trading off between us chair to chair. Chair 4 ran through the trees and stayed out of the wind, so we lapped that side for a while. From up top the whole Minaret crest was out — jagged and completely white, the best long view I've had from this mountain.
Got all four of us stopped on one run long enough for a picture, girls balancing on their skis behind us, before somebody pushed off and the moment was over.
