Snow, Sun, and Quiet Days Around the Lake

The first few days of January 2019 started off clear and cold. Perfect conditions for getting up on the mountain. From the top, you could see across the whole basin, with the lake sitting there looking incredibly blue against all the white.

After a morning of skiing, we headed down to the lake. There was still snow on the ground in patches along the shore, but the sun was strong. The dogs couldn't care less about the temperature and went right for the water, which was as clear as it gets.

The next day or so was more of the same. Just quiet time spent driving around, stopping to look at the views. The air was still, and the light was sharp. It's a familiar landscape, but the contrast of the snow, the pines, and the water always stands out. Just a typical, quiet start to the new year at home.
