Cozy Holiday Celebration at Home
The dog put up with more than usual for the holiday celebration tonight. Before anyone arrived we got a plaid bow around his neck and then the Santa hat, and he held still under the tree with all the presents behind him, looking mostly resigned. The hat stayed on longer than I would have bet.
Then the house filled up with kids. One of the games was wrapping someone into a Christmas tree — green crepe paper head to ankle, gold tinsel wound over it, red bows stuck on, and a headband of colored bulbs with a gift bow on top. She grinned through the whole thing while her friend fed out more paper.
After that they crowded around the kitchen island for cookie decorating, a row of red cups down the middle of the counter, icing bags and sprinkles going in every direction. The cookie tray we set out barely survived. The carrots and celery did not move an inch.
