An Ordinary December Day with the Dogs

A quiet Wednesday at home in mid-December. The dogs spent most of the day occupying the bed, their favorite spot in the house. For a while it was just the one, sitting perfectly still against the pillows, posing for the camera under the Matisse print.

Eventually, her brother decided to join in. He’s much less interested in sitting still and more focused on getting as close to the lens as possible, usually right as I'm about to take the picture. I got a few decent shots of them together before the chaos took over completely.

Later in the afternoon, I started getting into the holiday spirit. Put out the gingerbread house cookie jar and the vintage Santa sign. It felt right to leave out a cookie and a glass of milk, a small trial run before the big day. It was just a simple, comfortable day at home.
