A Day Hiking Among the Redwood Trees

I spent a day in early September hiking through a redwood forest. It’s hard to really capture the scale of these trees. As soon as you step onto the trail, you're completely surrounded, and the only logical direction to look is straight up.

The weather was clear, with a bright blue sky visible in the gaps between the canopy. Sunlight cut sharply through the high branches, hitting the forest floor in patches. It created these moments of intense brightness in an otherwise shaded, quiet environment.

Most of the hike was just that—walking with my head tilted back, trying to see the tops of the trees. The trunks are massive and deeply textured, and the green of the foliage stands out against the sky. It’s a humbling experience to stand next to something so immense and so old. It was a simple, quiet walk.
