A Mid-July Evening Walk on the San Diego Waterfront
We headed down to the waterfront on a clear Friday evening in mid-July. The air was warm and the late afternoon sun was hitting the Star of India, which was docked at the pier as usual. There's always a quiet energy along the Embarcadero around this time of day as people wind down their week.
We found a good spot to watch the sun set over the bay. The sky turned a hazy gold, and the light reflected across the water between the sailboats anchored for the night. We snapped a quick selfie as the sun dipped below the horizon, just a simple marker of the day.
After the sun was gone, the sky held onto its color for a while. Looking back toward the city, the palm trees and buildings were just dark silhouettes against the bright orange and blue gradient. By the time we started walking back, the city lights were coming on, illuminating the high-rises against the last bit of twilight. It was a nice, straightforward way to end the day.
