A Day on the Track at the Porsche Experience Center
Spent a Wednesday over at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, right next to the airport. The weather was gray and overcast for most of the day, which cast a flat light over the rows of new cars parked under the solar panel canopies.
The main point of the visit was to get some time on their purpose-built track. It's a compact but technical circuit with different modules like a handling course, an autocross area, and a low-friction circle. It's a slightly strange feeling, focusing on braking points and apexes while a 747 is climbing out just over the tree line.
Inside, the main building is part museum, part showroom. A new GT3 RS was sitting in the lobby, looking pretty aggressive. The lower level has a small but well-curated collection of heritage cars, from a 356 up through a line of classic 911s. It’s always interesting to see the current models alongside the cars that started it all.
It’s worth checking out if you’re into cars and in Atlanta!
