A Festive Christmas Dinner at Wolfson College, Cambridge

A quick trip to Cambridge in mid-December for a holiday dinner. The evening before, we found ourselves in a pub with a ceiling covered entirely in old beer and whisky boxes, strung up with fairy lights. It was crowded, but had a nice, warm atmosphere ahead of the main event.

The next night, we made our way to Wolfson College. The pavement was still wet from rain as we walked up to the entrance, following the sign to the Porters' Lodge. Inside, the hall was decorated with a tall, brightly-lit Christmas tree.

The dinner itself was a formal affair. The tables were set with crackers and name cards for the college's Christmas party on December 13th. I noticed a large world map on a wall nearby, covered in pins from people's home countries, under a banner celebrating cultural heritage. It was a nice reminder of the international community there.

After dinner, we walked through the city. The lights from the buildings along the river reflected on the dark water. The night ended with a view of one of the grand old university buildings, its columns lit against the night sky.
