A Few Days in Healdsburg, Summer 2015
We drove up to Healdsburg for a few days in early August 2015. The sun was out, and the first order of business was finding a patio for a drink. We ended up at Bear Republic Brewing, sitting at a wooden table with a couple of beers, taking pictures of our beers like proper tourists.
It was a classic summer family trip. The main event for the kids was, of course, the pool. They spent hours there, just enjoying the water and the sunshine. We also found a small art studio where they could do some crafts with clay, a nice quiet moment in the middle of the day.
Mostly, we just walked around. It was hot, but not unbearable. I remember taking a selfie under a big, shady tree and just noticing the small things, like a giant sunflower catching the afternoon light against a shop window.
The trip was bookended by good drinks. It started with beer and seemed to end with coffee. Finding a cafe with a serious La Marzocco machine always feels like a win. It was a simple, easy few days away from home.
