Just Another Couple of August Days at Home

A couple of quiet days at home in early August. I spent some time at my desk, where this little fuzzy creature has taken up what seems to be a permanent residence inside an old trophy. He looks pretty content up there, surveying the office clutter. It’s one of those strange things you accumulate that just finds a spot for itself.

The chickens are enjoying the yard. They spend most of the day scratching around in the wood chips and dirt along the fence line, doing their usual thing. It's a small flock with a few different kinds, and they mostly seem to get along.

In the late afternoon, the light filters through the big tree out back. It's massive and pretty much dominates the view from the house. Looking up at it from under the striped awning is a good way to mark the end of the day. Just a typical summer evening here.
