A Few Days of July Hikes Around Tahoe
A quiet stretch of days at home in early July. The weather was warm, perfect for getting out into the woods with the dogs. We spent most of our time on familiar trails, passing grassy fields and that spray-painted teepee that's been around for a while.
The dogs were mostly concerned with finding any water they could. Puddles, streams, it didn't matter. As long as it was wet and muddy, they were happy to lie down and cool off from the sun. They have a real talent for finding every available patch of water on a trail.
We explored a bit, finding our way through some tight rock crevices where the light came through in slivers. The forest floor was littered with fallen logs, which of course became impromptu balance beams. One of the hikes ended at a still pond surrounded by pines. The water was incredibly calm, reflecting the trees and the clear blue sky perfectly. Just a simple, quiet spot to end a walk.
