A Few Days of Spring Skiing by the Lake

Made a quick trip up to the mountains for a few days in mid-March of 2019. When we arrived, the slopes were covered in a solid layer of snow, with low-hanging clouds obscuring the view of the lake below. It was quiet and still.

The next day, we got out for some spring skiing. The sun broke through the clouds, which made for great conditions on the mountain. I stopped to take a photo looking down at the lake, which was finally visible through the snow-covered pines.

It wasn't all snow, though. We took the dogs for a hike at a slightly lower elevation where the ground was thawed and green. One of them spent most of the time splashing through a shallow stream we came across, stopping for a drink every few minutes.

After being out all day, it was nice to come back and relax. The dogs seemed to agree, finding the warmest patches of sunlight on the floor to nap in before we packed up to head home.
