A Few Days of Sun and Coast in Mid-April
A few quiet days at home in mid-April. I spent some time near the coast, looking out over the wetlands where the water winds its way toward the ocean. The sky was that particular kind of blue you get in the spring, with a scattering of white clouds passing through.
I walked along the beach, where the waves were pretty gentle. Nearby, the cliffs overlooking the water are full of different kinds of cacti soaking up the sun. I also spent some time at a quiet koi pond, watching the bright orange and white fish move through the water under the big green leaves. It was a nice, self-contained little world, a real contrast to the wide-open beach.
The days ended well, too. I caught a sunset at the coast, with the sky turning from deep blue to a thin band of orange over the water. The cliffs just became these dark shapes against the last of the light.
Another day involved a walk downtown, past Petco Park, which looked massive against the cloudless sky. Just a standard stretch of days, making the most of the sun.
