A Quick Spring Trip to Santa Monica, California

We spent a couple of days in mid-April down in Santa Monica. We arrived to find clear skies and that classic Southern California sun. The first thing we did was walk through the pedestrian area, which was full of market stalls and lined with tall palm trees. The weather was perfect for just strolling around and taking it all in.

From there, we made our way to the bluffs overlooking the beach. You get that iconic view of the pier and the massive stretch of sand from up there. It was bright and a little windy, and we stopped to get a few family photos with the ocean behind us.

As the afternoon ended, we went down to the water to catch the sunset. The light got warm and golden, reflecting on the wet sand as the waves rolled in. Watching the sun drop below the horizon with the mountains in the distance was the perfect way to end the day. It’s a simple thing, but it always feels worth stopping for. The sky went through a whole range of colors before it got dark.
