A Few Quiet August Days with the Cat
It was the beginning of August, and I was home for a few days. The weather was typical for this time of year, and the routine was pretty simple. Most of the time was spent just hanging around the house and yard.
Our cat was taking full advantage of the summer warmth. He spent most of his time outside on the concrete patio, finding his usual spots to lounge. He'd stretch out next to the patch of grass, soaking in the afternoon sun. Sometimes he'd stare right at me when I came out with the camera, other times he was completely absorbed in his own world, just resting.
There wasn't much else to it, really. Just the quiet, familiar rhythm of a few days at home. Observing the cat go through his simple, daily rituals is a calming thing. These are the small, uneventful moments that make up most of life, I suppose.
