A Day of Fairs and Farms Around the Bay

A busy summer day back in July 2009. We seemed to cover a lot of ground, jumping between different events. I remember a stop at a local park or farm with a petting zoo. The kids were excited to get up close with the cows, cautiously offering them leaves and stalks of celery over the worn wooden fence.

It was one of those days full of other random sights. We spent a while looking at an old Jeep that was completely covered in colorful Lego blocks—a sign wisely warned against climbing on it. Later, inside some kind of exhibition hall, we came across a small, brightly lit experimental aircraft that had drawn a small crowd.

Of course, there were classic kid activities mixed in, too. We found a beautiful old carousel with painted horses and giraffes, and someone was enjoying some cotton candy. Somewhere along the way, we also stopped for a bit of chalk drawing on the pavement. Just a typical, eclectic day out with family in the Bay Area.
