A First Christmas with Santa Claus, December 2007
We had a holiday party in early December 2007, and Santa Claus made a special appearance. This was our daughter's first time meeting him, and she wasn't quite sure what to make of it all. Dressed in a white knit sweater with a green sash, she sat on his lap and stared, looking more curious than anything else. There were no tears, which felt like a win.
She seemed particularly fascinated by his enormous white beard, reaching out for it at one point. We got a few pictures of them together in front of the Christmas tree before the moment passed. She was very calm and observant through the whole encounter.
After her visit with Santa, she discovered the grand piano. She sat on the bench, her hands on the keys, seemingly delighted by the sound. Her reflection in the shiny black finish of the piano is a detail I always notice in these photos. It was a simple, quiet holiday gathering, just a few classic moments from her first Christmas season.
