A June Weekend Out on the Lake with Friends

A classic early summer day in West Michigan from back in June 2003. A group of us got together for a day at a house on one of the local lakes. I remember taking a turn at the grill on the patio overlooking the lawn and the water before we got things started.

After eating, we all piled into a Four Winns for an afternoon on the water. The sky was filled with soft, cloudy light, but it was warm enough to be comfortable. We just spent a few hours cruising around, taking in the scenery of the dense green trees that lined the shore everywhere you looked.

It was a simple, perfect kind of day. No agenda other than being on a boat with friends, enjoying the start of a Michigan summer. We spent the time talking and just watching the shoreline and the wake behind us.
