A Late February Snowfall and a Walk in the Woods

A pretty typical stretch of days for late February up here. It started out clear and cold, with a sharp view across the lake from up high. You could see the low clouds sitting on the far shore.

Then a storm rolled in and it snowed for most of a day. It was quiet and muffled everything. I saw a hawk perched in a pine tree, just sitting out the heavy snowfall.

Once it cleared, the sun came out strong against a bright blue sky. All the trees were completely caked in fresh snow. It was the perfect weather to get out for a hike in the woods and let the dogs run around.

We put them in their sweaters and headed out. The snow was deep, almost up to their chests in some spots, but they had a great time bounding through the powder and exploring. It was bright, quiet, and cold in the forest.
