A March Evening Walk by the Oakland Waterfront

Started the route in downtown Oakland at 409 13th Street, right under the Tribune Tower. The Art Deco building originally went up in 1906, but the 305-foot, 22-story tower was a 1923 addition, topped with 11-foot-tall red neon "TRIBUNE" letters that light up the block.

From the city core, the path led down to the harbor for a March evening walk along the water. The sun dropped behind the hills across the bay, backlighting the dense rows of sailboat masts and the red metal scaffolding anchored on the lawn. Further down the path, the eastern span of the Bay Bridge stretched across the water, and a massive Matson cargo ship sat idle near the concrete edge of the port.
