A Mid-July Hike Out on the Trail

A pretty standard week at home in mid-July. The weather was a mix of clouds and sun, so we took the opportunity to get out for a hike on one of the local trails. The dog was the first one ready to go, as usual.

The trail starts off in the woods, passing by small, still ponds that perfectly reflected the tall pines and the cloudy sky. It was quiet and calm, with just the sound of our feet on the dirt path.

As we gained a bit of elevation, the trees started to thin out in places, giving us views of the granite peaks in the distance. You can still see a few patches of snow clinging to the north-facing slopes, even this far into the summer.

The trail eventually opened up to the main lake. The water was calm, and the path follows the rocky shoreline for a while. It’s a familiar route, but one that’s always worth the walk. Just a simple, good day out.
