A Night Watching the Kids' Show at Red House
We spent an evening in mid-April at what I assume is called the Red House, based on the logo on the bass drum. It was a small, dark venue, and we were there for a kids' music showcase. Before the show began, the stage sat empty under red lights, with a full drum kit, amps, and microphones all set up and ready to go.
The main performance we were there for was a trio of young girls. One played a red electric guitar, another was on vocals, and the third was behind the drums. They played a short set, and it was great to see them performing on a proper stage with real equipment.
The whole event felt very much like a student recital. At one point a whole group of kids and a few adults were on stage together between songs. The highlight, for me, was watching the drummer. She was completely focused and having a great time, beaming behind the red and blue kit with her drumsticks in hand.
