A Pink Tutu for an October Afternoon

October 2008, and time for some early Halloween festivities. The costume this year was a pink ballet outfit, complete with a fluffy tutu, flower headband, and a wand. She was pretty excited to get it all on before we even left the house.

We headed out to a local daytime trick-or-treating event. It was one of those sunny, warm fall days in the Bay Area. She sat for a bit on a brick path, taking it all in before the real action started.

The place was decorated with all the usual fall things, including some friendly-looking scarecrows and yellow flowers. Her 'Trick or Treat' bag made an appearance, and soon enough, she was sitting right on the pavement, completely focused on a lollipop. That seemed to be the main prize of the day.

By the end of the afternoon, she was happy but probably a little tired from all the excitement and sugar. We headed home with a bag that was a little heavier than when we started.
