A Zoo Day with Giraffes and a Carousel Ride

A local day out in the Bay Area back in late October 2008. The weather was beautiful and clear, perfect for a trip to the zoo. We spent a good amount of time at the giraffe enclosure, which was wide and green with tall palm trees against a bright blue sky.

She was completely captivated by them, watching them move around from behind the fence. At one point she was trying to use binoculars to get a closer look, even though they were already pretty close.

After walking around for a while, we ended up at the carousel. It’s a beautiful old one, enclosed in a building with big windows that let in all the afternoon light. She was so happy on her horse, just grinning the whole time it went around. I rode with her, pointing out all the different painted animals as we went up and down. It was a simple, pleasant day.
