A Quick Winter Trip to Melbourne

I flew down to Melbourne for a few days in late July. The purpose of the trip was an industry event, so most of my time was spent indoors, but the city made an impression right away. Even on the walk to the venue, the modern architecture was striking, with complex, geometric facades reflecting the winter sky.

The views from inside were just as compelling. From the high floor where the event was held, the cityscape was a dense cluster of towers under a thick layer of grey cloud. It was interesting to see the mix of shapes and materials across the skyline. I arrived a bit early and took a photo of the empty conference room, with the city visible through the large windows behind the presentation screen.

After the sessions, I saw a bit more of the area. One building stood out with its dark, wavy facade that looked almost organic. It was a short trip, just a couple of days. Before I knew it, I was back at the airport, waiting for my flight home. The clouds broke just in time for sunset, which lit up the tarmac and the planes parked at the gate.
