A Quiet Autumn Day on a Michigan Lake

It was October 18, 2005, a perfectly clear and still day somewhere in Michigan. The lake was like glass, mirroring the trees on the far shore with incredible precision. The autumn colors were at their peak, a mix of orange, yellow, and deep red against the lingering greens.

The morning started cool and bright. From the shore, I could see a small boat dock jutting into the calm water. The light caught the foliage, making the reflections almost as vivid as the trees themselves. There wasn't a ripple on the surface.

As the day went on, the light shifted but the calm remained. By late afternoon, the sun began to set, and a full moon started to rise in the clear blue sky, hanging faintly above the tree line. The water held the reflection of the hills and the sky perfectly as dusk settled in.

The boat was already covered for the season, sitting on its lift next to the dock. It was one of those quiet, solitary days that marks the transition into the colder months.
