A Mid-July Day Sailing on Lake Michigan

This was one of those perfect Michigan summer days in mid-July 2005. We got a small group together and took the boat out for the afternoon. The sky was cloudless and the water was a deep, calm blue, perfect conditions for sailing.

We pushed off from shore and sailed along the coast, watching the tree-covered dunes pass by in the distance. A few other sailboats were out enjoying the weather, but for the most part, it felt like we had the open water to ourselves. The sun was warm, and everyone was just relaxing on deck.

Even the dog found a comfortable spot and settled in for the ride, seeming to enjoy the breeze as much as we did. It was just a simple, easygoing day spent soaking up the sun with good company.

There's not much that beats an afternoon like this. Just the white sail against the endless blue sky, and the steady movement of the boat cutting through the water.
