A Quiet Day in a Mid-Century Bay Area House
Spent a day just observing the light and space in this house in the Bay Area. It's a classic mid-century build, with an atrium at its core right after you walk through the bright red front door. The space is mostly empty, which makes it easier to appreciate the architecture itself.
Inside, there's a living room with a heavy brick fireplace and exposed ceiling beams painted blue. The light coming through the large windows is soft and diffused. From another room, you can look straight out through walls of glass to the backyard, where a still, blue pool sits waiting for warmer weather.
The kitchen is simple, with white cabinets and tiled countertops. The whole back of the house seems to open up to the patio and the yard. It's late February, so the big deciduous trees are still bare, their branches making patterns against the overcast sky. It’s quiet here, just the house and its surroundings.
