A Quiet End to January at Home

The last couple of weeks of January were quiet. I spent a lot of time at home, just observing the daily routines of the pets. The cats have their space with that big blue mural, and they go through phases of energetic playing followed by long, lazy naps on the cool floor. It's a simple, predictable rhythm.

Evenings were often spent watching the light change. From the balcony, I could see the sunset color the sky over the valley, just as the lights in the neighboring houses started to turn on for the night. It's a peaceful time of day.

The dogs have their own routines, centered almost entirely on finding the most comfortable spot on the bed. They've taken over the fluffy yellow blanket, and they usually nap side-by-side. On the warmer, clear days, we'd spend some time outside. There's nothing quite like watching a dog soak up the sun, completely content.
