A Quiet Thanksgiving Weekend at Home in Encinitas
It was a standard Thanksgiving week at home in Encinitas. The weather was exactly what you'd expect from Southern California in late November — bright, clear, and sunny. I spent some time walking around the golf course nearby. It was surprisingly green, with the ponds reflecting the cloudless blue sky and the houses perched on the surrounding hills.
The main event was, of course, the Thanksgiving meal. The dining table was all set up with colorful plates and glassware, ready for everyone to gather. It was a pretty relaxed, typical holiday scene at the house.
What I remember most are the evenings. The sun sets early this time of year, but the colors were incredible. One evening, the sky just lit up with this intense orange glow over the ocean and silhouetted hills. As it faded, the sky turned a deep blue, and a small crescent moon appeared. It was a quiet way to end a few simple days at home.
