Thanksgiving Weekend Golf and a Full Table
Got a round in during the morning of Thanksgiving weekend — clear sky the whole way, ponds everywhere on that course, yellow flowers thick along the banks. Water comes into play more than I'd like. There was a green tucked behind one of the ponds with houses looking down from the ridge above it, and the eighteenth runs up to a big white clubhouse with a waterfall spilling into the pond in front. Ducks all over that one.
Back in San Marcos the table was already set for the crowd — the whole run of mismatched colored plates, sunflowers and orange daisies in the middle, napkins with feathers tucked into the rings. Ten or eleven places by my count.
After dinner the sky went orange out toward the ocean and a sliver of moon hung above it. Houses down the hill still had their lights strung up.
