A September Afternoon with the Kids
Just a regular day at home in the Bay Area, early September of 2012. I had my camera out, which wasn't unusual. Sometimes the most rewarding photos come from these quiet, unstructured afternoons when nothing in particular is happening.
The girls were being themselves, full of energy and easy smiles. I managed to get a couple of close-up shots of them together. In one, they're both looking in different directions, but their closeness is obvious. Their expressions are so genuine and bright. These are the kinds of unguarded moments that are so easy to miss.
Later, one of them sat for a slightly more posed shot. She'd put on a feathered headband and a rainbow-striped shirt, looking very pleased with her outfit. Even sitting in the chair, her smile was completely natural. Just a simple record of a passing moment on a late summer afternoon.
