A Snowy Tahoe Day and a New Kitten

We had our first real snow of the season in early November. We went for a drive to see it settled over the landscape. The pine trees were heavy with it, and a small river near the road was running dark and clear between the snowy banks. The sky was a mix of blue and cloud.

The lake was incredibly still. You could see the rocks on the bottom through the clear, cold water. The docks were covered in a perfect, undisturbed layer of snow. Everything was quiet, just the reflection of the snow-dusted mountains on the water's surface.

The second half of the day was for a different kind of trip. We drove to pick up a new kitten. The car was packed with some boxes for the journey back. My daughter held him on her lap the whole way home. He was a tiny thing, mostly curious and calm. It was a pretty good day.
