A Snowy Weekend Tailgate with Friends in Tahoe

We met up with a group of friends for a day in the snow in early February. The plan was loose, mostly centered around getting outside and hanging out at a trailhead. It was one of those gray, overcast winter days, but everyone was bundled up and in good spirits. We found a spot where a few cars and a van could circle up.

The mountains were covered in a fresh layer of snow from a recent storm. Looking up from the parking lot, you could see the snow-heavy pines marching up the slopes under a thick layer of clouds. It was quiet and still, with the kind of light that makes everything feel soft.

The gathering was casual. People milled around with skis and boards, some just finishing up and others just there for the social aspect. Someone had a small grill going, and chairs were set up around a folding table. It was a classic tailgate scene, just with snowbanks instead of asphalt, complete with a dog wandering through the crowd.
