A Spring Drive and an Afternoon by the Pool
We took a drive in early April, catching the desert in a surprisingly green phase. The rocky hillsides were covered with yellow flowers and other vegetation, a contrast to the usual muted tones of the landscape. The sky was a clear, bright blue with just a few thin clouds passing through.
The road we were on cut right through the hills, a winding two-lane blacktop that followed the contours of the terrain. It's always nice to just drive and watch this kind of scenery unfold. We didn't really have a specific destination in mind beyond just getting out for the day.
We ended the afternoon by a pool. The sun was getting low, shining directly through the palm trees and making them dark silhouettes against the bright sky. The light reflected off the water, and we found a couple of lounge chairs to just sit and watch the day end. A simple and quiet outing.
