A Spring Night Game at the Ballpark
Found myself at a baseball game on a Thursday night in April. We were seated under an overhang with a direct view looking out over home plate. It’s a great angle for watching the pitcher work and seeing the whole field spread out in front of you.
The stadium was packed, a sea of people under the bright lights. The field itself was a perfect, vivid green against the dark evening sky. All the advertisements along the outfield walls were lit up—Ghirardelli, AT&T, Toyota, and Yahoo! signs glowing in the distance. It’s a huge part of the visual landscape of a modern ballpark.
From our seats, we watched the familiar rhythm of the game unfold. The players looked small on the field from this distance, but you could follow the entire sequence of play easily. It was a cool spring evening, a good night to just sit and take in a game.
