A Sunny Afternoon at the Wild Animal Park

It was a standard week at home, with a string of clear, warm days in late April. The light was bright and a little harsh, typical for midday sun. I decided to spend an afternoon at the Wild Animal Park since the weather was so nice.

The place always feels vast. Looking out over the main savanna enclosure, you can almost forget where you are. The hills in the distance were dry and brown, dotted with green patches here and there. Different herds were scattered across the landscape, grazing near the water or just standing in the sun.

I spent a while watching the giraffes. They were moving slowly among the tall palm trees, their height making them stand out even from a distance. The sun baked the sandy ground where they walked. A few were resting, one even sitting down, which you don't see very often.

Later, I passed by the elephant enclosure. It was pretty active, with a mix of adults and a few smaller ones. They kicked up dust as they moved around the rocks and logs in their habitat. It was just a quiet, observational afternoon spent not far from home.
