A Summer Birthday Party with Swimming and Pizza

This was a hot, bright Saturday in mid-July 2016. The day began at an outdoor pool for a swim meet. There's a particular energy at those events, a mix of chlorine and cheering. This swim club had a huge taxidermy polar bear out front, which was an odd but memorable landmark. Naturally, we had to get a few photos with it before the races started.

After the meet wrapped up, we transitioned into full birthday party mode. We all went to a nearby pizza place and got a long table on their patio. It was the perfect spot for a group of hungry kids to settle in after a morning of swimming. The pizzas came out, and everyone dug in.

The main event, of course, was opening presents. The table was soon covered in colorful gift bags, wrapping paper, and cards. It was fun to watch the kids gather around, reading the little notes and showing off their new gifts to each other. Just a simple, happy summer day spent celebrating with friends.
