A Summer Weekend with Fish and Horses

We took a short trip away in mid-August 2013. Our first stop was an aquarium, where the kids just stood mesmerized in front of a massive wall of blue water. They were totally silent, watching the schools of colorful fish swim by.

The next day we went horseback riding. It was a bright, sunny day and the stables were busy. Everyone got fitted for helmets and matched with a horse. The staff were patient, leading the horses around and getting the kids comfortable in their saddles.

One of the girls took to it immediately. She sat up so straight on her brown horse, holding the reins and beaming. She looked completely at home up there.

After they were done, the three of them posed for a photo on a wooden bench, looking tired but happy. It was a simple, memorable weekend.
